Yakult Travel Grant

 

We are inviting applications for Yakult Travel Grants from students, early-career researchers, and early-career healthcare professionals around the UK and Ireland, to support their attendance at an international conference or training opportunity between April 2020 and November 2020. The grants will consist of up to £1,000 which may be used for registration, travel and/or accommodation. We will be selecting two applicants to receive a Yakult Travel Grant.

APPLICATION CRITERIA

The Yakult Travel Grants are open to current UK & Ireland based:

   • undergraduate or post-graduate students – on science or healthcare related courses

   • early-career researchers - within 10 years of degree graduation 

   • early-career healthcare professionals - within 10 years of degree graduation

 

Yakult Travel Grants are awarded for future conferences only, and the conference must fall within eight months of the application closing date. Applicants should have already registered to attend the upcoming conference prior to applying for a Yakult Travel Grant, and the Grant funds will be paid to the successful applicant after the event (as reimbursement). Successful applicants will be informed within two weeks of the Yakult Travel Grant application closing date.

 

Yakult Travel Grants are available to help pay for the registration fee, travel and/or accommodation costs relating to the conference/training attendance only. Meals are not covered, except for breakfasts included within accommodation costs and/or dinners organised and hosted by the conference ie. gala dinner and thus included within the conference registration fee.  We request that reasonable costing travel and accommodation are sought ie. economy fares only (premium travel costs will not be covered).  

 

The Yakult Travel Grant funds will be paid (reimbursed) after the event, once the successful applicant has provided the following [within six weeks of attending]:

  • A short (max 500 words) summary of how the conference attendance and support from Yakult has supported their professional development [including photos from the event where possible], which can be used for a news feature on the website (yakult.co.uk/hcp) and in our newsletter. 

  • A completed expenses form including original VAT receipts for the registration fee, travel and accommodation costs. 

 

Applicants can only submit one application per cycle (ie. per deadline). If awarded a travel grant from Yakult UK then they cannot apply again for two years. Those who have applied for travel grants previously, but were unsuccessful, may apply again. 

JUDGING CRITERIA

All applications will be reviewed by at least two members of the Yakult Science Team, and scores will be determined using specific judging criteria. Successful applicants will be informed within two weeks of the application deadline.

HOW TO APPLY

Complete the application form and return it (along with supporting documents) to science@yakult.co.uk before the application deadline stated above. 

Completed application forms should be accompanied by:

• Evidence of the applicant’s registration [and acceptance to present/speak - where applicable] at the chosen conference/training 

• Evidence of current student status or degree graduation date

Terms & Conditions

Offer is open to all UK and Ireland residents who fulfil the application criteria except employees and their families of Yakult UK Ltd and its subsidiary companies, their agencies and anyone professionally connected with this activity.

Applicants must be aged 18 years or over to enter.

Applicants may only submit one application per cycle (ie. per deadline). Successful applicants awarded a travel grant, must not reapply for another Yakult Travel Grant for 2 years upon receiving the grant. Unsuccessful applicants may apply again for future awards.

The promoter reserves the right to withdraw this offer at any time and without notice;

The grants will consist of up to £1,000 which may be used for registration, travel and/or accommodation. Any applications for Travel Grants must by supported by evidence set out in the application.

Any reimbursements will be paid in sterling, by cheque payable to the applicant only. Any expenses which will be incurred in currency other than sterling will be converted into sterling using xe.com or similar tool at the time of expenses submission.

By participating, you agree that upon receiving a Yakult Travel Grant Yakult UK Ltd may use your name, image, job title and country of residence to promote the Yakult Travel Grant through any Yakult marketing communication.

All applications will be reviewed; successful applications will be verified and the Judges decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.  

Travel Grant recipients will remain personally responsible for all arrangements and expenditure (including insurance) relating to the conference/training and Yakult will have no liability for the ultimate use of the travel grant or the recipient.

Travel Grants are non-transferable, non-negotiable and no further reimbursements will be made after the initial award due to cancellations, re-bookings or due to any other unforeseen events which may incur additional expenses.

Yakult UK Ltd.’s decision to award a Travel Grant is discretionary.
