Anam Wajid - PhD Researcher
“Attending the Yakult International Symposium in Amsterdam was an incredible opportunity for me as a first-year PhD student. I was fortunate to receive a grant from Yakult to participate, and this allowed me to present my research in a poster and flash talk, which was a valuable learning experience. Presenting at an international symposium early in my academic career boosted my confidence and introduced me to the process of sharing scientific work with a wider audience.
Networking with other researchers was another key highlight of the symposium. I was able to connect with professionals and fellow early career researchers who are working on microbiota and gut health related projects, leading to meaningful discussions. The feedback and advice I received from established experts were invaluable, especially in terms of shaping my future research project goals.”
Dr Sue Law - GP
“As a somewhat jaded, middle-aged GP, it is wonderful to have found things that leave me feeling like an awe-inspired child again! The Integrative and Personalised Medicine Conference (IPM) – what an event! Brilliant and beautiful in equal measure. Packed full of fascinating talks. I am so grateful for the opportunity to attend the IPM conference and I can’t wait to go again next year. I have started the second part of my Yakult adventure – the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine ‘s The Gut Microbiome for Clinicians Course. A deep dive into the community of bugs living inside all of us and I look forward to sharing my new wisdom with you soon!”
Lynsey Montgomery - PhD Researcher
“Attending the FASEB Science Research Conference on B-vitamins and One-Carbon Metabolism in Niagara Falls, New York, with the generous support of Yakult was an important moment that has helped to shape my professional journey. Not only was I able to utilise this opportunity to present both a poster and oral presentation at this prestigious event – it provided an opportunity for growth, learning and making invaluable connections. The Yakult Educational Grant was one of the main reasons that my participation in this conference was feasible. This grant was able to be utilised to cover the costs of registration, flights, and accommodation which are usually financial barriers that PhD students often face. Receiving support from the Yakult Educational Grant removed these issues and made attendance at FASEB a possibility.”
