Yakult Educational Grant
Yakult UK are offering grants of up to £1,000 to support participation in an upcoming conference or training opportunity. We are inviting applications for Yakult Educational Grants from students, researchers and healthcare professionals around the UK and Ireland, to support their attendance at a virtual, national or international conference or training opportunity.
Applications will be open year round, but will be held until the next application deadline (see below) and then reviewed by the judging panel. Applicants will be notified of the panel's decision within two weeks of the application deadline.
• Cycle 1: deadline 31st March
• Cycle 2: deadline 30th September (To be confirmed, successful candidates will be presented with the awards at the Yakult Study day 2023)
* The conference or training course must be within 12 months after the application deadline
As a result of the current Covid-19 pandemic and the nature of the award, for those who are awarded the Educational Grant and the conference or training opportunity is postponed, you will still be entitled to claim up to £1,000 to support your attendance when the activity does go ahead at its postponed date. For activities that are cancelled, the Educational Grant may be used towards an alternative conference or training opportunity subject to agreement with Yakult UK Ltd. The same terms and conditions still apply.
The Yakult Educational Grants are open to current UK & Ireland based:
• undergraduate or post-graduate students – on science or healthcare related courses
• researchers and healthcare professionals - working in healthcare or fields related to nutrition science or microbiology.
Yakult Educational Grants are awarded for future conferences only, and the conference must fall within twelve months of the application closing date. Successful applicants will be informed within two weeks of the Yakult Educational Grant application closing date.
Yakult Educational Grants are available to help pay for the registration fee, travel and/or accommodation costs relating to the conference/training attendance only. Meals are not covered, except for breakfasts included within accommodation costs and/or dinners organised and hosted by the conference i.e. gala dinner and thus included within the conference registration fee. We request that reasonable costing travel and accommodation are sought i.e. economy fares only (premium travel costs will not be covered).
The Yakult Educational Grant funds will be paid (reimbursed) after the event, once the successful applicant has provided the following [within six weeks of attending]:
• A short (max 500 words) summary of how the conference/training attendance and support from Yakult has supported their professional development [including photos from the event where possible], which can be used for a news feature on the website (yakult.co.uk/hcp) and in our newsletter.
• A completed expenses form including original VAT receipts for the registration fee, travel and accommodation costs.
Applicants can only submit one application per cycle (i.e. per deadline). Those who have applied for an educational grant previously, but were unsuccessful, may apply again. Applicants awarded an educational grant from Yakult UK cannot apply again for two years.
All applications will be reviewed by at least two members of the Yakult Science Team, and scores will be determined using specific judging criteria. Successful applicants will be informed within two weeks of the application deadline.
