In the sixth series of the Microbiome Matters podcast, we talk to our expert guests Kaitlin Colucci RD, Kimberley Wilson, Dr Jenna Macciochi and Ro Huntriss RD about how the gut microbiome may be an important consideration at key periods in the lifespan. Our podcasters are all experts in their fields and share with us their explanation of how to recognise conditions and their suggestions for management.

Episode 1: The Female Gut Microbiome

In episode 1, we are joined by Kaitlin Colucci RD. Kaitlin is a UK Registered Dietitian specialising in gut and digestive health, as well as general health and wellbeing. She is considered one of the leading gut health experts in her field and is the founder of the KC Nutrition online gut health clinic & The Mission Dietitian Instagram.  Kaitlin will talk about the gut microbiota, different considerations for female and male physiology and how the female gut microbiota may differ from males.

Episode 2: Food, Mood and the Gut Microbiome

In episode 2, we are joined by Kimberley Wilson. Kimberley is a chartered psychologist, author and visiting lecturer working in private practice in central London. She is an award-winning food producer with a degree in nutrition, and the author of How to Build a Healthy Brain. We will be exploring food, mood and the gut microbiome, and the complexities of their interactions.

Episode 3: Exploring the Interactions Between the Gut Microbiome and Immunity

In episode 3, we are joined by Dr Jenna Macciochi who will be exploring both the immune system and the gut microbiota and the complexities behind their interactions. Dr Macciochi is on a mission to unravel the science around the immune system and help people decode exactly what it takes to be well in the modern-day. She has over 20 years’ experience researching the impact of diet and lifestyle on the immune system and her curiosity about the human body in health and disease has driven her research deepening her understanding of both what we eat and how we live affects our health and wellbeing.

Episode 4: Fertility and the Gut Microbiome

In episode 4, we are joined by Ro Huntriss RD who discusses nutrition and fertility, and how the gut microbiome may interact with both. Ro is one of the UK’s leading fertility dietitians with a Bachelor’s degree in Food Studies and Nutrition, a Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics and two Master’s degrees in both Advanced Nutrition and Clinical Research. She is a researcher, a published academic author in the field of fertility nutrition, and a clinician.
