Key Resources

Here you will find a selection of useful resources which cover the science behind the gut microbiota, probiotics, and health. All resources are free to download. For hard copies, email the science team at science@yakult.co.uk.

The Gut-Everything Axes

The gut microbiome could be considered as ‘the conductor of health’, orchestrating with organs and systems in the human body, via different axes, to maintain homeostasis and optimal health. The gut is connected to many parts of the body from the brain to the immune system. These resources cover the various connections that exist between the gut and various systems around the body.

Practical Guides for HCPs

These practical mini guides aim to educate HCPs about the basic role of the gut and the factors which influence the composition of the gut microbiota.

Patient Resources

These booklets aim to guide patients through the basics of gut health covering topics such as the gut microbiota and its functions, factors which can influence gut health and top tips for caring for your gut.

Skills Series

Developed in partnership with researchers at the University of Aberdeen, the Skills Series covers the basics of identifying bacteria in microbiology and probiotic research.

Women's Health

Research highlighting the importance of gender differences in epidemiology, pathophysiology, and treatment of various health conditions is emerging year on year. However, there is still a reported discrepancy in the presentation of genders in health studies, including research into the female gut microbiota. We have produced a series of resources outlining the science of the female gut microbiota.

Fact Sheets

Do you want to get quickly clued up about the gut microbiota, probiotics or fibre? These double-sided fact sheets are available for healthcare professionals, students and researchers to download for free.

The Gut Microbiota

The trillions of microorganisms living inside our gut, collectively known as the gut microbiota, perform many vital tasks. Here you can learn about what these tasks are, what makes a ‘healthy’ gut microbiota, and what factors affect it.
